First Aid training
Wednesday, 15 July @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
CAG Somerset knows the importance of keeping our community members safe and the vital role that community action groups play in this. We want our network members and volunteers to feel confident that they have all the skills to act in situations that may arise.
We have teamed up with Alex from First 4 Aid training to provide an Emergency First Aid at Work training session which enables qualification as a First Aider in the Workplace (valid for 3 years). The session will cover
- Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:
The use of available equipment
The need for recording incidents and actions
The importance of personal hygiene and prevention of cross infection in first aid procedures
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including the use of an automated external defibrillator
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including cuts, grazes, bruises, scalds or splinters)
This session is available to all volunteers of CAG Somerset members. Please book one space per group initially and we will release further spaces should they be available. This is to ensure as many groups as possible have competent and confident first aiders.
Training is delivered over a minimum of 6 contact hours and we have allowed 7 hours to incorporate breaks. Please bring a lunch with you as this will not be provided. Hot drinks (and a few biscuits of course!) will be provided.
If you have any questions about this session please email maxine.anderton@resourcefutures.co.uk
