About our group
Strode College Sustainability Group is a collaboration between staff and students that meets on a weekly basis. We do what we can with the resources we have to improve the sustainability of processes at the college and raise awareness of the importance of acting sustainably through various activities.
These include reaching out to other groups like the Fixy Van – a mobile tech reusing and recycling project that visited college this year. We also run events, such as Green Week, a glasses collection drive in partnership with the local branch of The Lions and auditing current recycling activities with the aim of improving these. Following an audit of recycling facilities this year, we have upgraded our facilities to include new paper, can and plastics recycling facilities in every building. We hope to utilise the sustainability gardens and the Poly tunnels on campus to produce free food and educate students on the importance of organic agriculture, with ambitions to plant a berry corridor for students to enjoy in the autumn.
