About our group

Faced with the climate and ecological crisis, ordinary people from all walks of life are coming together to build a better future by starting local. Here in Somerset, in the southwest of England, we’re working together to create a different world for our children and theirs.

Transition is all about working focusing on the positive, about joining hands with others to achieve much more than any of us could do alone. We are hopeful and optimistic – but also really down-to-earth! “Hope with its sleeves rolled up” is one of our mottos.

If we wait for the government it maybe too late. If we act as individuals, it will be too little, but if we act as communities, it might just be enough, just in time.

We are a local environmental group based in Wellington, Somerset. Part of the Transition Network, we are active in many areas such as food, wildlife, community gardening, climate change, waste reduction, renewable energy and sustainability.

In some planters are canes growing peas. All plants appear to be seasonal summer vegetables. To the back right of the image are some sheds and the community allotment continues right through the image
